If your travel dates are restricted, time is at a premium, or if you simply can't wait until your next ski holiday, why not book a ski weekend or short ski holiday?
Snowscape offers ski and snowboard weekends to Austria. With our extensive local knowledge, our tailor-made service aims to match your requirements with our resorts and hotels in Austria ensuring you enjoy maximum time on the slopes with minimum hassle.
Much as we would love to, we do not promise to offer any resort, any hotel for any duration – it is just not possible. However, we know what works, we understand the limitations of short stay availability in Austria and have built up a selection of hotels offering us just the right balance of flexibility.
Salzburg, Innsbruck and Munich (Germany) are the main gateway airports to the Austrian Alps. Whilst Salzburg and Innsbruck offer the shorter transfer times, Munich offers the best choice of flights and, in particular, choice of flight times (best for late flights home on the last day).
We offer either shuttle or private small group minibus taxi or coach transfers that ensure waiting time is kept to a minimum. For more independence, we also offer hire cars from the airport.
Almost without exception, Austrian hotels only accept 7 night stays in the high season (New Year, mid-February School holidays). For the best ski weekend availability, aim for pre-Christmas, January, early February, March and April.
If you can be flexible with your dates, this can also help. For example, arrival on a Saturday or Sunday for 3 or 4 nights often yields more availability than Thursday-Monday.
As a general rule, the bigger and more well-known the resort, the less flexible hotels are likely to be. St Anton, for example, books out on a weekly basis for most of the season and therefore has precious little need for weekend guests.
Smaller resorts offer better availability, better value, less crowded slopes and are often close to or part of larger resorts with Fieberbrunn being a prime example - great snow record, skiing for all abilities, excellent value, short transfer time and part of the vast Ski Circus Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Fieberbrunn with 270 km of piste.
Other factors to consider are the transfer time, flight times (key if you plan on skiing on arrival and departure days) and not least your ski ability, nightlife and budget expectations.
With good access from Salzburg, Innsbruck and Munich, there are some great ski weekend destinations in the Kitzbüheler Alps region. These include Fieberbrunn (local Resort Manager, extensive ski area), St Johann in Tirol (Great all-rounder, great base for local skiing, the Ski Welt and Kitzbuhel), Kitzbühel (World-famous resort, quality hotels, premium ski weekends) and Kirchberg (Sister resort to Kitzbuhel, keener prices).
For early or late season skiing, Kaprun is a great choice (one hour from Salzburg) and neighbouring Zell am See is a great all-rounder. Salzburg is also the airport of choice for Saalbach (1.5 hours transfer).
Innsbruck offers the best access to Stubai (Austria’s largest glacier resort, short transfer), Sölden (Big skiing, big après-ski) and St Anton (very limited weekend options).
Austria has some fantastic hotels in the luxury, 4*+ category offering everything from traditional to contemporary Alpine design and extensive Wellness areas.
Together with scheduled flights, private transfers and a choice of top resorts, hotels, rooms and suites, our personal service also extends to booking private instructors, dealing with any special requests and taking care of your requirements before and during your stay.

Group lessons in Austria generally start on Sundays and Mondays so, if you are considering a short break with group lessons, arrival on a Saturday for three or four nights works well. If you require ski lessons over a weekend, the best option is to book private lessons. We can also book local off-piste guides for half or full days.
There is a cost per instructor / guide plus a nominal amount for each additional person in the group and sharing the cost within your party offers great value.
